Using the data below, describe all intervention strategies employed by the school to improve the academic performance of students identified by the early warning system. Boulevard Heights Elementary uses an array of interventions to improve the academic performance of our students who are identified by the early warning system. The Collaborative Problem-Solving Team addresses curriculum, assessments, remediation, and enrichment for each student on an individual basis to ensure success and monitor growth in our weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings and quartely Data Chats by grade level. We collaborate in these meetings to discuss and analyze data to detect and discuss individual students who are identified as “at risk.” In addition, instrucion is adjusted as needed to meet the needs of the students.
Academic interventions to ensure student success include, Benchmark Advance, Reading Horizons, Systematic Intruction in Phoneme Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words (SIPPS), Imagine Learning, and Ellevation. Math Interventions are also in place using Envision. Moreover, Pre-K ESLS and ASD interventions includes the SMILE curriculum, Star curriculum, Reading Mastery, and the Unique Learning System to enhance the success in our students with disabilities.
Furthermore, behavioral and social-emotional indicators may interfere with academic success; therefore, behavior interventions are addressed through our school-wide behavior plan, PAWS, and we have embedded the 10 minutes of Mindfulness into our curriculum to promote positivity and mindful thinking in our students. Moreover, we utilize MTSS behavior plans for TIER 2 and 3 students. We are also implementing the Bobcat Buddy system which provides our students with Autism a buddy to imitate positive behaviors. In addition, we honor the Kid of Character each month to promote moral development. This year our Support Staff is mentoring students in the Lowest Quartile. Mentoring will include data chats, motivational support, attendance tracking and individual goal setting. Lastly, attendance is also a critical role in academic success and any attendance concerns are addressed through collaboration with the parents and/or school social worker. |
