Using the data below, describe all intervention strategies employed by the school to improve the academic performance of students identified by the early warning system.

Sunshine Elementary School implements intervention strategies to improve the academic performance of students identified by the early warning indicators.  Our students are provided a high-quality education each school day. If struggling students are identified, we will utilize the Multi-Tiered System of Support to tailor instruction to meet the needs of students. We encourage our students daily to create a positive mind-set and believe that they can achieve all educational goals with hard work and dedication.

Our school believes that a successful instructional plan must encompass consistent progress monitoring.  This school year we will utilize the following programs to serve as a monitoring tool to track data of students, which are iReady Reading/Math, S.T.A.R. Reading/Math, FAST Reading/Math, and Common Formative Assessments. Being able to analyze the data from these platforms will assist with identifying strengths and weaknesses within a student’s educational pathway.

iReady Reading/Math will be implemented in grades K-5.  This program engages, motivates, provides scaffolded support, and creates a learning pathway for students to reach their full potential.  The Growth Monitoring component of iReady will be administered to Tier 2 and Tier 3 students to serve as additional data to indicate specific instructional needs of students.

S.T.A.R. Reading/Math PM1/PM2 (grades K-2) and FAST PM1/PM2 (grade 3-5) will serve as a progress monitoring tool and enlighten our teachers and leadership team of areas of curriculum focus for struggling students.  Fluid pull-out groups will be created to provide reteaching and remediation opportunities for struggling students. Sunshine Elementary School provides additional literacy interventions for selected students by utilizing supplemental materials such as Benchmark Intervention, UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Initiative Foundations), Heggerty, and SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words). Success Maker and Envision Intervention will serve as a supplemental resource for struggling math students.  All mentioned literacy and math interventions are intensive, systematic, and explicit. Our selected programs and educational supplements focus on maximizing instructional time, double dosing, and differentiation of instruction.
