By May 2026, the percent of students in grades 3-5 who meet proficiency will increase by 3 points from 58% to 61%. Provide and Monitor Professional Development and Professional Learning Communities relating to Science of Reading, standards-aligned reading, writing, speaking, and listening instruction and interventions. Conduct regularly scheduled instructional walkthroughs to ensure that effective instruction is being provided to all students and evidence-based practices and programs are being implemented with fidelity. Meet regularly to disaggregate data from screeners, progress monitoring, and diagnostic reading assessments to make informed decisions about how to maximize student growth in reading.

Mid-Year Reflection

Progress: Is desired progress being made to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus by the end of the school year? Yes
Evidence: Provide evidence of the implementation challenges the school encountered during the Fall semester. Describe the changes made to address these challenges.
As we moved to implement Magnectic reading as part of the ELA reading block our teachers were not trained in using the resource with all students using the scaffolding reports and resources. We also did not have access to iReady READING toolbox which limited our resources. 

We addressed the challenges by the following actions: 
-All 3-5 teachers were trained and monitored (by daily classroom walk throughs) on implementing the iReady Magnectic lessons and scaffolding reports. 
-By working closely with our PTA, we received a donation from them to purchase the iReady reading toolbox. 
 
Evidence-based Interventions/Strategies: What was each Intervention/Strategy’s identified strengths and weaknesses?
-UFLI used in 3rd grade for students reading 2 or more grade levels below, addresses deficencies in phonics 
-Benchmark Advance intervention used in 3-5 for students in TIER II intervention, used for reading comprehension and vocabulary
-Wordly Wise intervention used in 3-5 for students in TIER II intervention and addresses vocabulary. 
All programs meet the needs of the students based on their deficencies in phonics, comprehension and vocabulary. 
Weakness/challenge: UFLI requires teachers to be trained in using the program 
Benchmark Advance: The rigor is lacking in some areas 
 
New Actions: Describe any new actions that are needed to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus.
In order to meet the ELA proficiency goal of 61%, we are using PM2 and iready Diagnostic 2 to adjust pull out and intrvention groups. The start of ELO camps in February will also allow us to suppport additional students in grades 3-5 to increase our proficiency.
