High Quality Instruction

Early Warning Indicators

Using the data below, describe all intervention strategies employed by the school to improve the academic performance of students identified by the early warning system.

Students who are not progressing towards individual and grade-level goals are being monitored and provided with the appropriate interventions. Students who are struggling are identified and provided interventions, often through the SIPPS and MDIS Intervention programs. Students are placed appropriately in small groups according to their FAST levels and areas of need.

At Oakridge Elementary, ten staff members support Literacy and interventions for struggling students and students with disabilities (SWD) (Tier 2 and Tier 3). The team is comprised of the Literacy Coach, a Reading Intervention Teacher, a Resource Teacher, two ELL paraprofessionals, two IDEA paraprofessionals, two ESE Support Facilitators, and the Media Center Teacher. This team uses push-in and pull-out models to provide individualized instruction in groups of 6 or fewer five days each week, following a structured schedule. The Literacy Coach also builds instructional pedagogy through modeled lessons and by implementing the coaching cycle.

There are also the Math Coach and a Resource Teacher whose focus is to support Math instruction and interventions school wide. They utilize push-in and pull-out models to provide individualized instruction in groups of 6 or fewer multiple days each week, following a structured schedule. The Math Coach also helps build instructional pedagogy through modeled lessons and by implementing the coaching cycle.

Additionally, we are working closely with our school Social Worker to address the attendance concerns at Oakridge Elementary. She reviews an attendance report on a weekly basis and contacts families of students who have been identified as chronically absent or approaching chronically absent to try and understand the reason for the student's absences. We then work together to try and address any barriers we may be able to assist the families with overcoming.
