Mid-Year Reflection

Progress: Is desired progress being made to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus by the end of the school year? Yes
Evidence: Provide evidence of the implementation challenges the school encountered during the Fall semester. Describe the changes made to address these challenges.
Challenges are students not following through at home with their required homework and study.  In order to mitigate these challenges, students create WIG's and lead measures to track their progress toward their goals.  They also have accountability partners who meet weekly with them.  We ust receive our PM 2 data and are very pleased with their increased number of students already showing a Learning Gain from PM 3 to PM 2.
Evidence-based Interventions/Strategies: What was each Intervention/Strategy’s identified strengths and weaknesses?
The following are the measures used to determine the effectiveness of the strategies/interventions:
  • STAR Reading and FAST ELA assessments were analyzed to track proficiency and growth.
  • Small group instruction was monitored through administrative observations.
  • RTI progress was reviewed every 6-8 weeks by administration and the literacy coach.
  • Data from progress monitoring assessments and student work samples provided insight into learning trends.
  • Teacher feedback and student performance trends helped evaluate instructional effectiveness.
  • We are addressing a weakness in Figurative Language by hosting a Figurative Language Parade on March 9th.  These standards are hit heavily in the 2nd and 3rd grade and tested 2nd-5th grade.  The parade will serve as a demonstration of mastery and a review for PM 3.
  • We are also hosting afterschool camps to address the weakest standards as identified by PM 2.
New Actions: Describe any new actions that are needed to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus.
  • Maintain consistent progress monitoring and data analysis to adjust instruction as needed.
  • Strengthen small group instruction by ensuring targeted standard-based lessons align with assessment data.
  • Provide ongoing professional development to support differentiated instruction and intervention strategies.
Increase collaboration between classroom teachers, administration, and support staff to reinforce learning
Additional Reflections (optional): Please add any additional reflections for this Area of Focus.
Additional steps that could be taken to improve results with this strategy/intervention for low-performing subgroups.
  • Implement more intensive, data-driven interventions tailored to specific student needs.
  • Provide after-school tutoring camps for struggling students.
