Orange Brook Elementary is implementing the Envision Math series which includes Savvas Realize.   

Student’s progress is monitored by the state in both Reading and Math through Florida’s Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) administered 3 times a year.  The school’s ongoing progress monitoring in reading takes place through Benchmark Advance Unit Assessments administered every 16 days and iReady Diagnostics 3 times a year, and iReady Progress Monitoring for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students..  The school’s ongoing progress monitoring in math takes place through iReady Diagnostics 3 times a year, Topic Assessments, Quick Checks, Progress Monitoring Assessments, and Cumulative Topic Assessments which are administered twice a year.

The CPS Team reviews students' performance and determines if the student would benefit from targeted supplemental (Tier 2) or intensive reading (Tier 3) levels of support as well as identifies reading goals and develops an intervention plan of action.    

In the area of Reading, Orange Brook Elementary uses the Benchmark Advance supplemental intervention resources in small group instruction as Evidence-Based Instructional Materials and Practices for Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction.   Reading Horizons Discovery is also used in Kindergarten through 3rd grade and Reading Horizons Ellevate is used in 4th and 5th grade.   Our English Language Learners with Level 1 /A1 and Level 2/A2 language classifications also participate in Imagine Language and Literacy.   Our goal is to improve the academic performance of students in all areas of reading Oral Language, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary and Comprehension while emphasizing the importance of building foundational skills.   

In the area of Math Orange Brook Elementary uses the Math Diagnosis and Intervention System (MDIS) for small group instruction.  MDIS lesson are scripted, targeted, intervention lessons that guide student’s understanding.    

Progress monitoring through a variety of adequate assessments for the RTI goal are implemented and monitored by the CPS Team to determine future course of action.
