| Progress: Is desired progress being made to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus by the end of the school year? | Yes | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Evidence: Provide evidence of the implementation challenges the school encountered during the Fall semester. Describe the changes made to address these challenges. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| At the beginning of the school year, our 5th grade departmentalized MA/SCI teacher took a leave of absence, which left the position with a revolving door of substitutes. This was a huge obstacle as the incoming 4th grade made very little to no learning gains while in 4th grade. Once we were able to hire a full time teacher, which happened in November, instruction and learning got back on track, and students made progress from PM 1 to PM2. However, it is a first-year teacher, so she is receiving support on a regular basis. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Evidence-based Interventions/Strategies: What was each Intervention/Strategy’s identified strengths and weaknesses? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STRENGTHS: Teachers are using the district math curriculum and materials with fidelity, which has resulted in across the board learning gains from PM1 to PM 2; Teachers are meeting with Tier 2 and Tier 3 students to provide math interventions utilizing the MDIS Protocols. WEAKNESSES: Teacher are not documenting the intervention strategies used in FOCUS on a regular basis, which resulted in our MTSS district contact to conduct a training to show teachers how to properly document and upload interventions into FOCUS; There has been a reduction in the overall amount of time provided for what studdents need (WIN), whcih resulted from a master scheduling conflict that could not be avoided. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| New Actions: Describe any new actions that are needed to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We are beginning our ELO Camp to address learning gaps with our bubble students. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Additional Reflections (optional): Please add any additional reflections for this Area of Focus. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We are trending in the right direction. Since we are a new K-8, our overall goal has changed from 62% to 65%. As long as we continue on our current trajectory, we should make the 65% with our aim set at our SIP goal for 70%. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Our Intervention Curriculum has posed a challenge because we do not feel it is moving the students to the next skill in a timely manner. This applies particularly to our Tier 3 students receiving intensive intervention with our Reading Interventionist. Our MTSS team is meeting to discuss the students to first analyze their data to determine the progress made, then decide which students are ready to move to the next skill. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Evidence-based Interventions/Strategies: What was each Intervention/Strategy’s identified strengths and weaknesses? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STRENGTHS: Teachers are using Benchmark Advance and its materials with fidelity, which has resulted in students are bridging the gaps and defecits identified from previous grade levels, and increasing learning gains from PM1 to PM2; Teachers are using Benchmark Inteventions and Magnetic Reading in Tier 2 and Tier 3 small group instruction, focusing on speciific skill acquisition and standards mastery; Tier 3 students are receiving intensive instruction by the reading interventionist, using the district's instructional pathway to bridge the gap from pervious grade levels. WEAKNESSES: Ensuring the teachers are meeting with small groups on a regular basis; there is a misalignment between Tier 3 interventions (which is provided to students on a below-grade level instruction), which is not transferring to their state assessment results, which are on grade-level. |

| New Actions: Describe any new actions that are needed to accomplish the intended outcome for the Area of Focus. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our ELO Spring Camp is beginning and we are targeting the bubble students that will be able to make a learning gain, and possibly be proficient. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Additional Reflections (optional): Please add any additional reflections for this Area of Focus. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our data is trending in the right direction, both in proficiency and learning gains. Historically, our school has always done weill in ELA proficiency and learning gains, so we believe we are on the path to achieve our goal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
